What if the first words you heard after your baby was born weren’t congratulations, but a diagnosis few people had ever heard of?

That was the reality for Nicholas Arredondo’s family.

Instead of celebrating the beginning of a carefree childhood, they were introduced to a rare condition called Thrombocytopenia-Absent Radius (TAR) syndrome. Nicholas was born without the radius bones in both of his arms and without knee joints, a combination of challenges that would shape every stage of his life.
